When you can count on every note of vocals and every guitar solo being accurate to the smallest detail it makes for such an incredible experience to the fans who have been listening to these songs for upwards of 30 years. From the stage show to the musical performances, every detail is done to perfection.
There are no upcoming tour dates and locations announced at the moment, leaving fans eager for news about future tours. They hope to see King Diamond perform their favorite songs live and experience the unique stage presence that the artist is known for. The North American tour was cancelled. Patient fans wished him well and waited for signs of life from the King Diamond camp. More bad news came in 2010. Several blocked arteries necessitated triple bypass heart surgery. The invasive procedure was agonizing and the extensive recovery time left many wondering if King Diamond would ever return to the stage. The following year King returned with a pair of European festival appearances. A small headlining tour visited select cities before several amphitheater performances with the Mayhem Festival tour in 2015. King Diamond was back! As a lifetime worshipper of the mighty King Diamond, I was ecstatic when finding out that he would perform Abigail in its entirety. News that a concert would be filmed in my hometown sweetened the deal. I immediately bought tickets and endured the countdown until November. The Fillmore was a brand new venue in Philadelphia. My initial impression was that it was too NICE for a metal show.

Раньше эта композиция предвещала самый эффектный момент концерта - сожжение самого Короля. К сожаленью, в этот раз не удалось насладиться запахом горелого мяса, зато пока звучал "заговор священника и отчима Кинга", со сцены убрали так досаждавшую нам кладбищенскую ограду... И вновь песня из далеких 90-х годов, "Dreams". Помнится, у "Арии" песня с почти аналогичным названием представляет собой наивный "медлячок", а в исполнении короля хоррора, "Сны" — это очередная кошмарная история, связанная на сей раз с арахнофобией. Во время роскошной "Sleepless nights" мы вновь грустили на кладбище вместе с главным героем и взывали к потусторонним силам. А уж как оттягивались на ней сами музыканты... Для фанатов — возможность перевести дух и дать отдохнуть натруженным голосовым связкам.
Судя по бешеным взглядам окружающих, "крыша уехала в далекие края", и возвращаться явно не собирается. Да, собственно, и не надо. Тем более, что следующий номер — песня с последней "нетленки" группы "Give me your soul, please" "Черные контуры", или же "Shapes of black" в оригинальном варианте. Легендарнейшая "Come to the Sabbath" из творческого наследия группы "Mercyful Fate" — постоянный номер каждого концерта. Снова ярко-красный световой фон, Кинг дирижирует хором фанатов, Энди ЛяРок услаждает уши мелодичным гитарным соло, а девушка вальсирует в ритме песни с черными свечами в руках. Ритмично-качевая "Eye of the witch" и людское море танцпола волнами прилива накатывает к сцене в такт композиции, а Хэл Патино, терзая свою четырехструнку, помогает фанатам "трясти маковками". А сцена-то пуста… Как так? И это уже все??? Да ничего подобного. Мы еще не пели с "Abigail" песен.
Как же оставить без внимания такое полотно! И "Family Ghost" рассказывает нам историю жизни старого графа де Ла Фей, из-за которой его потомок теперь вынужден сделать нечто ужасное... Исполнение песни "Evil" стало приятным сюрпризом для многих присутствующих Жесткие партии ритм-гитары, четкая басовая партия, роскошный вокал Короля, до сих пор снимающего фальцетные ноты, световые эффекты… эта сказка не должна кончаться!!! Но вновь пустеет сцена, выносят две подставки под акустические гитары, и появляются три всадника в черных плащах.

Но концептуальность прежде всего, к тому же группа во время концертов устраивает театрализованные представления, с участием приглашенной актрисы. И вот это проблема этого диска — когда слушаешь его, то представляешь, какая там движуха было. Там шикарные декорации. Там гроб.
Там мертворожденная Эбигейль на руках у Петерсена. Он же там рассекает в инвалидной коляске, изображая понятно какого персонажа.
Like the demonic ghost of your dreams, King clambers around his three-tiered sanitarium-themed stage set an obvious nod to his upcoming album, the Institute playing both timeless tracks like Sleepless Nights and Halloween as well as rarer morsels like Voodoo, and even a brand-new track, Masquerade of Madness. All the while, knives are waved non-threateningly , babies are sacrificed in effigy , and Grandma is wheeled out to tell of her holiday gotta love Grandma. Though the Mercyful Fate numbers some are expecting never show — probably being kept in the back pocket for the upcoming reunion shows — the closing encore performance of Black Horsemen, dedicated to the late Timi Hansen, is more than enough for the frothing crowd.
